McKinley STEMM Academy
Art Workshop with Artist, Gabe Gault
On September 17, Artist Gabe Gault led a workshop for students from McKinley STEMM Academy. where students had a chance to tell their own stories through their artwork. The workshop culminated in a school mural that is displayed in the cafeteria for all students to enjoy. McKinley students were also the recipients of a surprise: Promedica provided the funding artist Kevin Bongang to paint a mural at McKinley and the check was presented at the workshop!
Toledo Main Library
Art & History Panel Discussion
A panel discussion at the Toledo Main Library featured the artist, Gabe Gault, representatives from the Myaamia Center and Toledo Arts Commission, as well as others instrumental in the mural process. The Main Library also donated a StoryBox to be used as a vehicle for Toledoans to tell their stories.
Tell Your Story, Toledo
Throughout the month of August, Toledoans joined in the creation of a community mural telling the Toledo Story. The larger mural is displayed inside Imagination Station. This creative exercise celebrated the rich history of Toledo and helped us all recognize the value and power of storytelling. Don't forget to take a photo of your square and add the hashtag #tellyourstoryToledo!
