    Toledo Museum of Art

    Teacher Professional Development

    Glass City River Wall and TMA partnered to host a teacher professional development session. The evening allowed teachers to explore Native American art in the TMA collection, interact with relevant curricular resources, and take a trip on the Sandpiper to see the largest mural in the country.

    The Sandpiper Boat

    See the Mural on the Maumee

    The Sandpiper is offering educational Watch Tour Cruises on the Maumee River on Mondays and Wednesdays through the month of October and collaborating with Imagination Station to offer intimate views of the mural and discounted admission prices. Half of the proceeds from the watch tours go towards supporting the Glass City River Wall.

    McKinley STEMM Academy

    Art Workshop with Artist, Gabe Gault

    On September 17, Artist Gabe Gault led a workshop for students from McKinley STEMM Academy. where students had a chance to tell their own stories through their artwork. The workshop culminated in a school mural that is displayed in the cafeteria for all students to enjoy. McKinley students were also the recipients of a surprise: Promedica provided the funding artist Kevin Bongang to paint a mural at McKinley and the check was presented at the workshop!

    Toledo Main Library

    Art & History Panel Discussion

    A panel discussion at the Toledo Main Library featured the artist, Gabe Gault, representatives from the Myaamia Center and Toledo Arts Commission, as well as others instrumental in the mural process. The Main Library also donated a StoryBox to be used as a vehicle for Toledoans to tell their stories.

    Imagination Station

    Tell Your Story, Toledo

    Throughout the month of August, Toledoans joined in the creation of a community mural telling the Toledo Story. The larger mural is displayed inside Imagination Station. This creative exercise celebrated the rich history of Toledo and helped us all recognize the value and power of storytelling. Don't forget to take a photo of your square and add the hashtag #tellyourstoryToledo!

    American Advertising Federation

    AAF Toledo Collaboration

    With a strong connection to artists and marketing professionals in Toledo and the surrounding area, AAF Toledo will gather local artists interested in engaging with our visiting artist, Gabe Gault, and the mural installation team. Being a part of AAF Toledo not only provides these artists with the opportunity to learn about the project, but also introduces them to the benefits of AAF Toledo’s network, programming and resources.

    Lourdes University

    Education Collaboration

    We are proud to partner with Lourdes University by engaging student artists. This educational and field experience will offer students the opportunity to engage with dynamic artist, Gabe Gault. Further interaction with the highly experienced mural installation team and acclaimed muralist, Eric Henn will provide the foundation for this artistic immersion. Additionally, exposure to the workings of the non-profit sector, including Urban Sight Inc., will enhance this student experience.

    City of Toledo

    Cultural and Completion Celebration

    A cultural ceremony was held at the ADM facility on October 15, 2022 to celebrate the completion of the mural and to honor the Native Americans portrayed in the mural. Over 30 Native Americans traveled to Toledo for the celebration. Speakers at the event included Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz and Mary Louise Defender Wilson of the Dakota Tribe and Jeremy Turner of the Shawnee Tribe. The celebration included Buffalo, Eagle and Bear dancing performed by citizens of the Dakota Tribe. Over 60 donors and community partners were in attendance to celebrate this gift to the city!
