Levels of Giving
Dear Fellow Toledoan,
We have spent the last year supporting each other, finding ways to help each other cope, and reflecting on what is really important.
It is with this in mind that we come to you with a truly unique opportunity to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. Something lasting that aims to celebrate our community -- helping us move forward, while honoring our past.
Urban Sight, Inc., a local non-profit dedicated to elevating cities through art, introduces its flagship project, The Glass City River Wall (GCRW). The GCRW will be the nation’s largest mural at 170,000 square feet and designed by renowned artist Gabe Gault. The canvas for this iconic public art project will be the ADM silos along the banks of the Maumee River. All who pass through the gateway of Toledo, an estimated 83,000 vehicles a day, will now be greeted by a message of hope and positivity.
The GCRW will truly brand Toledo and, will in part highlight the first economic developers of our region- the Native American peoples who first recognized the value of the Maumee River and paved the way for our continued prosperity. It will be a reminder that our city is vibrant and growing -- filled with citizens who rise to any occasion. It will be a monument to the resiliency that has shaped our past, present and future.
And, as so often is the case in Toledo, it can only be done when we come together and make it happen! Our goal with this piece is to honor the legacy of those who came before us and changed the landscape of Toledo for the better, while also looking forward to what is yet to come.
We are reaching out to you as we know you are one of those people who knows how to make a difference in our community. Someone who recognizes that collectively, great things can happen.
As we kick off the second phase of fundraising, we ask for your help to cross the finish line. We’ve planted the seeds, and we hope you’ll join us in growing something great!
